Do you think about those great songs from the 1960s through to the 1990s and beyond, would you like to listen to them again with like-minded friends? The group is for listening, discussing and reminiscing about the many genres of popular music that cover that period – think pop, soul, glam rock, prog rock, protest, electronic, punk, house and all the other types of music that we have heard. Each month, a member chooses from a list of topics related to Classic Rock and Pop Music as a focus for a meeting.
The first meeting was about The Beatles: each member chose 2 tracks, plus accompanying YouTube videos, to discuss/talk about and we also had discussions about their early years and by the lesser known songwriter, George Harrison.The second meeting was about Female Vocal, Individual or GroupThis resulted in a wide variety of different tastes in music including Joni Mitchell, Joan Armatrading, Haim, Dusty Springfield, Annie Lennox, Yvonne Fair, Judith Durham, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Patti Smith, Grace Slick.
